Since our inception in 2013, community members with less means have saved more than 1.5 million dollars on car repairs. For the 75 clients we see each month, saving on their car repair could mean the difference between keeping their job/home, or become jobless/homeless. We have grown every year for the past seven years and we are poised for more impact with every year that passes. In 2018 we moved to our current location (at Lake and Hiawatha) in the heart of Lake Street where we offer 5 repair bays. Auto repair at The Lift Garage is the vehicle for repairing lives. We’re changing the world one car at a time.
Strategic PrioritiesWe have been experiencing a significant amount of growth in recent years, and our services are in high demand. Our strategic plan includes repairing more cars to keep up with the 700-person waitlist we had, and build our organizational capacity amidst growth.

Skills
The Lift Board is interested in Board Member candidates who have knowledge and background in the following areas:
- Garage operations
- Marketing
- Public Relations
- Finance
- Fundraising and development.
In combination with those skills we seek a rich cross section of candidates that are:
- Racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse
- Has lived experience with poverty or homelessness.
Ideal candidates will be active participants who are open to working collaboratively with others to accomplish the mission of The Lift. They will commit to playing a meaningful role in the successful execution of the organization’s stated goals.
