Working board - A working board undertakes some responsibilities for the operations of the organization. In addition to providing policy and general direction, members of working boards may help in practical ways such as organizing events and drafting documents. Often found in organizations with few or no staff.

Policy board - A policy board focuses their time and efforts on larger strategic and/or policy decisions.  Members of policy boards may be involved in strategic committees, draft policy, research choices. Often found in more established organization with staff, board mostly focused on larger strategic and/or policy decisions.
