If you have new opportunities ahead, are facing change, or want to be sure your nonprofit is addressing real community needs and challenges in an effective way, it’s probably time to invest in strategy development.
Our strategic consultants will work with both your staff and board to create a financially-informed strategic framework so your organization can be adaptive and prepared to meet your strategic goals.
Whether we engage with you for a one-time strategy retreat, facilitate a strategy refresh, or partner with your nonprofit for a full strategic planning process, our focus is not just on creating a guiding document, but also on providing a practical, financially informed roadmap for how to build capacity and processes to carry out your mission and plan. In order to lead your nonprofit strategically and effectively, your board needs to have a clear understanding of its roles and responsibilities. More than that, though, your board needs to agree on how it wants to operate together, members need to feel engaged in the work, and when conflict arises, there need to be group norms for productively addressing it.
This is all easier said than done. If your board or nonprofit has new faces, is developing a strategic plan, needs help navigating through challenges, or is feeling caught in the weeds instead of on setting strategy, it’s probably a good time for board development. We engage with nonprofits as a mutual and trusted partner using a three-step approach: assessing where your board is currently at, coming to an agreement on where you need to be (and how you want to be together), and then establishing an action plan to move forward toward your mission, together.
We also can coach you on how to build your board with the right tools and processes, including the processes related to recruiting new board members. Read more about our board development services, approach, and outcomes.
A leadership transition is about more than finding a new executive director. There are three phases to a successful leadership transition: the preparation, the search, and the onboarding of your new leader. The first and last phase are too often overlooked but are the ones that when done right, will lead to a smooth transfer of leadership. If a leadership transition is in the future for your organization, reach out to our strategic services team to see how we can partner with you on this pivotal process. We’ll bookend your transition by helping you prepare for your search and successfully onboard your new leader, working with all parties involved along the way.

We work with leaders, both experienced or emerging, to help them access their best thinking, build productive relationships, and navigate change effectively through Leaders Circles®.
Leaders Circles® are a proven way to develop leadership strengths. Our Leaders Circles® program accommodates the needs of both emerging and C-suite leaders. Circles create the environment that allows you to confidentially discuss challenges and ideas, test ideas before “taking them public,” identify solutions to challenging situations, and network with others who face similar issues.
Circles are comprised of 5-7 leaders at similar points on their leadership journeys who commit to participate for one year. Circles meet once monthly during the work day, for up to three hours. A trained, experienced coach works with each group.
