Coffee Conversations

Workshop

  • May 14, 2021
  • 9:00 am - 10:00 am

Propel Nonprofits invites you to virtually gather with other Propel clients in a lightly facilitated conversation to ask questions, learn from each other, and share ideas about how our nonprofits continue to adapt to the current and ever-changing environment while also planning for the future.

Propel Nonprofits will help facilitate the discussion, but the primary content comes from you! Please come with questions and ideas to share! All are welcome to join.

Each time we gather, we’ll focus on a topic about nonprofit strategy, finance, or governance. For this time, we’ll spotlight budgeting with a specific emphasis on what it looks like to budget with a focus on equity. Some assume that equity has nothing to do with the accounting books, paying bills, or budgeting. But budgeting is value-based – how we use resources, share power, and engage folks in the process are all ways that we demonstrate our values.

Come with your ideas, challenges, and bright spots from your budgeting experiences to share with your nonprofit colleagues.

About the Presenter

Elizabeth Appel headshot

Elizabeth Appel

I come to Propel Nonprofits with 10 years of training, technical assistance, and program development experience in service-learning, curriculum development, youth leadership, and asset-based community development. I believe in the power of a well-framed question, that all participants have something to learn and something to offer at every training, and that (almost) any problem can be solved with flip charts and sticky notes. I have a B.A. in political science and economics from Luther College. In my free time, you’ll find me listening to podcasts about politics and reality television, refining my recipe for the perfect roast chicken, and drinking the best cup of coffee I can find (often all at the same time).
