Fundamentals of Finance + Board Boot Camp (New Richmond, WI)

We’re excited to offer two our most popular trainings back-to-back in New Richmond, WI. You’re welcome to join us for one or both.

Fundamentals of Nonprofit Finance (morning)

This workshop is designed to make you more comfortable with nonprofit finance. At this workshop, you will walk through real nonprofit examples and reports that will help you understand jargon, accounting rules, roles and responsibilities, and procedures and policies. This workshop is right for you if you are new to the nonprofit sector, nonprofit finance, or your position as staff or board member.

Board Boot Camp (afternoon)

Board members will participate in board meetings and other engagements with more confidence and more knowledge about their role after attending Propel Nonprofits’ Board Boot Camp.

  • Learn typical board responsibilities
  • Identify the nuances of board authority and relationships
  • Discuss how you would respond to specific board scenarios.

Participants take home the Board Boot Camp Participant Guide and Fiduciary Duties of Directors of Charitable Organizations.

About the Presenters

Sarah B. Jackson, Propel Nonprofits' Loan Officer & Financial Specialist headshot.

Sarah Jackson

Sarah has been working with or for nonprofit organizations for more than a decade. Mission-driven work has always been her passion and she is honored to serve nonprofit organizations in Minnesota and the upper Midwest. As a Loan Officer/Financial Specialist, Sarah works closely with nonprofits as a lender, technical assistance provider, trainer, and partner. Previously, she worked as the program director for the Minnesota Newspaper Association, leading the organization’s training, events, and communications programs. Before that she was executive director of the Minnesota News Council. Sarah earned degrees in Journalism and Philosophy from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.

Janet Ogden-Brackett, Propel Nonprofits' Vice President of Lending, headshot.

Janet Ogden-Brackett

Janet directs the nonprofit loan program. As a loan officer, she assists individual nonprofits during the loan application, review process, and throughout the lifecycle of the loan. Janet also delivers training workshops and provides technical assistance on financial management topics to nonprofits throughout Minnesota. Prior to joining Propel Nonprofits, she was Director of Operations and Financial Manager at Minnesota Environmental Initiative. Janet has a B.A. in Business Management from the University of St. Thomas.
